ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The international journal Carolina Political Review has said in its latest report that Pakistan regained an important place in world politics in 2025, and the Pakistan-India tension in May strengthened Pakistan’s defense capability and reputation.
The report states that Pakistan has restored Washington’s trust through effective diplomacy and given the relationship a new direction. The US has described Pakistan as a key bridge for access to South Asia, the Gulf, and Central Asia, and has given Pakistan’s geographical importance a central position. In particular, the Gwadar port in Balochistan has been described as a major asset.
According to the international journal, Pakistan has maintained a multilateral balance with CPEC and opened new economic routes. In November, the Trump administration published its national security strategy, according to which Pakistan will be a key ally in achieving US national security interests.
The report also says that the recent change in US-Pakistan relations has attracted the attention of the international media. The US has had to take an active role in de-escalation in the India-Pakistan tension, and President Trump’s statement on Kashmir supports Pakistan’s diplomatic positioning and stance.
According to the Carolina Political Review, Pakistan gained a psychological advantage on the diplomatic front while India lagged. Through lobbying and policy engagement, the relationship was shifted from a war on terror to the economy and strategy. Pakistan and the US signed several deals worth $500 million for refining and processing of minerals.
The report further said that Exim Bank approved $1.25 billion in financing for mining and minerals in Reko Diq in Balochistan, and Pakistan has moved its relationship with the US towards “sustainable interests” through re-engagement.
