LAHORE (Kashmir English): The Pakistan ODI Tri-Series 2026 grand final is scheduled for today, Saturday, October 31, 2026, at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
The highly anticipated game will be played between Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Pakistan will be led by Shaheen Shah Afridi while Kusal Mendis will captain Sri Lanka side.
Hosts Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and England featured in the tournament.
Pakistan dominated the early leg of the tournament, securing the first spot with three consecutive wins including a massive 37-run win against Sri Lanka and two dramatic wins over England.
England on the other hand, lost all three of their opening games. They failed to defend 429 against Sri Lanka (which became the second-highest successful run-chase in ODI history).
Following that, they lost a game to Pakistan by 1 wicket after an unbelievable 89-run last-wicket partnership between Shadab Khan and Haris Rauf.
Heading into the fifth match, England desperately needed a Pakistan victory over Sri Lanka to remain in the race for the final.
Instead, Sri Lanka completely routed Pakistan in Lahore to claim their own spot in the final and officially eliminate England.
The massive 8-wicket defeat at the hands of Sri Lanka right before the final must be a wake-up call for Pakistan.
Pakistan vs. India in ODI Tri-Series final in 2008
The most memorable ODI Tri-Series final showdown between arch-rivals Pakistan and India happened on June 8, 2008, in Mirpur, Bangladesh, during the Tri-Nation event.
Winning the toss and batting first, Pakistan posted a commanding 315 for 3 in 50 overs. Salman Butt anchored the innings with a brilliant 129 (retiring hurt with cramps), while Younis Khan played a masterclass knock of 108, sharing a record 205-run second-wicket partnership against India.
India started aggressively, but regular losses derailed the chase. MS Dhoni fought hard with a quick-fire 64 off 59 balls, and Yuvraj Singh contributed 56, but tight bowling choked the middle order. The Green Shirts sealed a memorable victory, lifting the trophy and capping off one of the high-tension limited-overs clashes between the two neighbours.
