ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Pakistan will continue its efforts to help reduce tensions between Tehran and Washington by encouraging diplomatic engagement and narrowing differences between the two sides, stated Arab Channel Al Mayadeen.

It said the failure to reach an agreement does not necessarily mean that the entire negotiation process has collapsed.

Pakistan-hosted talks failed to reach an agreement between the US and Iran on Sunday and both sides left for their homes with the world still hoping a positive outcome of the Pakistan initiative.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar in a press briefing regarding the historic US-Iran talks held in Islamabad said that several rounds of comprehensive and constructive talks were held between the delegations of the two countries.

Both countries recognized Pakistan as a facilitator

Ishaq Dar expressed satisfaction that the US and Iran have responded positively to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s request. Both countries have recognized Pakistan as a facilitator.

The US delegation was led by Vice President JD Vance, while the Iranian delegation was led by Speaker of Parliament Baqir Qalibaf.

The Foreign Minister clarified that he himself, as Deputy Prime Minister, and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir directly assisted in these talks.

The aim was to make the negotiation process fruitful at the strategic and diplomatic level. Ishaq Dar said that he was grateful for the recognition of Pakistan’s positive and impartial role by the parties.

He stressed that it is extremely important that both countries remain committed to maintaining the ceasefire. Ishaq Dar reiterated that Pakistan will continue its role for lasting peace in the region and the world in the future as well.

He expressed the hope that the journey started with these talks will lead to stability in the region.
