LAUDERHILL, USA (Kashmir English): In a ground-breaking move, Pakistan has defeated West Indies in the first T20I match of Pakistan’s Tour of West Indies 2025, being held at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill, Florida, on Friday, 1 August 2025.
West Indies captain Shai Hope won the toss and decided to field first. Batting first, Pakistan scored 178 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.
Saim Ayub showed great batting and scored a brilliant innings of 57 runs, and was the prominent batsman of Pakistan’s innings. Among the other players, Fakhar Zaman played an innings of 28 and Hassan Nawaz played an innings of 24 runs.
In reply, the West Indies team could only score 164 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs and lost the match by 14 runs. John Charles and Jewell Andrew scored 35 runs each.
For Pakistan, Mohammad Nawaz bowled well and took 3 wickets, while Saim Ayub took 2 wickets. Shaheen Shah Afridi and Sufyan Muqim took one wicket each.
The players in the Pakistan team were Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Haris (wicketkeeper), Salman Ali Agha (captain), Hassan Nawaz, Mohammad Nawaz, Faheem Ashraf, Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Sufyan Muqim.
So far, 22 T20 matches have been played between the two teams, in which Pakistan has won 16 while West Indies has won only 3 matches. Three matches ended in a draw.
