ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Pakistan has yet to decide on the matter of participation in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, set to be played in India and Sri Lanka from February 7, amid the recent concerns of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) over traveling to India for world cup campaign.
Federal Interior Minister and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, in a post on X, said that the final decision regarding the participation will be made either on Friday or next Monday.
Naqvi’s post came after he met Prime Minister Shehbaz Shehbaz in Islamabad earlier today.
“During the meeting, he [Mohsin Naqvi] briefed the Prime Minister on the recent developments between ICC and Bangladesh Cricket Board regarding ICC T20 World Cup,” the PM Office said in a handout.
Subsequently, on X, Naqvi said that “he had a productive meeting with Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif”.

“Briefed him on the ICC matter, and he directed that we resolve it while keeping all options on the table,” he stated, adding that “it was agreed that the final decision will be taken either on Friday or next Monday.”
The meeting came after the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) decided against participating in the T20 World Cup due to their security concerns in India, which were rejected by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
The ICC rejected Bangladesh’s request to move their games to a venue outside India. After Bangladesh’s withdrawal from the World Cup, the cricketing body has replaced them with Scotland, saying it was not feasible to change the venue so close to the tournament.
Bangladesh’s exclusion triggered reports of Pakistan’s possible withdrawal from the tournament.
