RAWALPINDI (Kashmir English): Pakistan Army is conducting extensive air rescue operations across the country in the flood situation.
Several people have been shifted to safe places as part of the immediate response in the flood-affected areas.
Army Aviation helicopters carried out rescue activities in flood affected areas and rescued three people in Chakri Rajan village. 27 people were rescued through air rescue operations in Chakwal and Khanpur.
10 people were taken to safe places during the rescue operation in Chak Monjo area. 31 victims were evacuated in another successful operation in Dhok Bhader area.
38 citizens were shifted to safe places in air rescue missions in Darapur. Life jackets and immediate aid are also being provided to the victims.
The local administration is also taking full part in the Army Rescue and Relief Operation. The Pakistan Army stands with the people in this difficult time.
Earlier, The Deputy Commissioner of Rawalpindi district has announced a one-day public holiday in view of the worsening weather conditions in Rawalpindi.
The official notification was issued early Thursday morning, citing safety concerns for the public.
Heavy rains and unstable weather patterns have caused disruptions across Rawalpindi district, prompting authorities to take precautionary measures. The holiday is intended to keep citizens safe and reduce unnecessary travel during the ongoing bad weather.
Continuous rainfall has been recorded across Rawalpindi and Islamabad, with the twin cities receiving a total of 168 millimeters of rain, according to the Meteorological Department.
Since June 26, monsoon rains have continued across Pakistan, bringing widespread downpours with intensity ranging from light showers to torrential rains. According to the Meteorological Department, rainfall this season has been recorded at 80 percent above normal levels.
Emergency services have been alerted, and local administration is closely monitoring the situation.
The Deputy Commissioner urged the public to cooperate and follow safety guidelines during this time.
