LEEPA VALLEY (Kashmir English): The fourth edition Pakistan Army-sponsored Babai Karnah Malik Munawar Awan Cricket tournament has kicked off at the beautiful tourist spot of Range Kola Cricket Ground in the Leepa Valley.
The opening ceremony was attended by military leadership, local government representatives, the media community and civil society. This year, 12 teams from across the valley are participating in this tournament.
The opening match was played between Kashmir Rising Star and Shoaib Shaheed Cricket Club. Rising Star batted first and scored 122 runs.
The Shoaib Shaheed Club team was bowled out for 72 runs. Rising Star defeated Shoaib Shaheed by 50 runs whereas, rising Star’s batter Farkhan Samad scored 45 runs and won the Man of the Match award.
A cricket festival will be held at the beautiful tourist spot of Leepa Valley under the auspices of the Pakistan Army, which will provide the youth with a chance for healthy entertainment.
Local people attended the inauguration ceremony and paid tribute to the Pakistan Army, saying that the Pakistan Army is providing opportunities to the youth while serving the people in every field.
