LAHORE (Kashmir English): Pakistan has won the toss and elected to bat against South Africa in the first match of the two-Test series.

Pakistan captain Shan Masood won the toss and elected to bat first in the match being played at the Gaddafi Stadium.

National team captain Shan Masood said that they will try their best to take advantage of the home conditions, while Proteas captain Aiden Markram said that they have played cricket in such conditions, and they will try to bowl Pakistan out soon.

Pakistan is facing South Africa in the first Test of the new era of the ICC Test Championship in Lahore from October 12.

South Africa will play 2 Test matches in this tour, while the second Test will be played in Rawalpindi from October 20.

The Lahore Test will be the 31st Test match between Pakistan and South Africa.

Pakistan has won six of the 30 matches played previously, while South Africa has won 17 matches.

This is South Africa’s fourth tour of Pakistan. The last tour was in 2021, when Pakistan won both Test matches under the leadership of Babar Azam to achieve a memorable victory.

The Pakistani team includes Shan Masood (captain), Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan (wicketkeeper), Imam-ul-Haq, Abdullah Shafiq, Shaheen Afridi, Noman Ali, Saud Shakeel, Salman Ali Agha, Sajid Khan and Hasan Ali.

Earlier, the captains of Pakistan and South Africa unveiled the Test series trophy on Saturday.

According to the details, the national Test team captain, Shan Masood, and the South African Test team captain Aiden Markram unveiled the trophy at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore.

On this occasion, the South African team captain Aiden Markram also visited the museum at the National Cricket Academy.
