ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): In an effort to expand air connectivity, the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has planned three new airports across Pakistan, including one in Mirpur, Azad Kashmir, and the reconstruction of Sukkur Airport.
Samma News, citing sources, reported that the plan includes the construction of airports in Dera Ismail Khan, Hyderabad, and Mirpur. It also includes the complete renovation of Sukkur Airport to improve air travel for the northern belt of Sindh.
As per details, the feasibility study for Mirpur airport is nearing completion, while the land acquisition has already begun in Dera Ismail Khan.
In a significant push for Hyderabad Airport, the defense secretary directed the PAA to initiate commercial flight operations. The government has also directed authorities to open an aviation training school to support skill development in the aviation sector.
Officials stated that the expansion will help improve mobility, create jobs, and boost economic activity in underdeveloped regions, according to reports.
