ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Security sources on Wednesday said that Operation Ghazab Lil-Haq against Afghan Taliban and terrorists resumed following a temporary pause in view of Eid-ul-Fitr.

The security officials said that the temporary ceasefire was concluded at midnight between March 23 and 24.

Security sources said today that operations were an ongoing, precise, and targeted military campaign directed against terrorist leadership, their support and command infrastructures, logistics networks, and all facilitators and abettors under the Afghan Taliban regime-controlled areas.

“Operations under Ghazab Lil Haq will continue until the objectives are achieved and the Afghan Taliban regime reviews its misplaced priority of supporting terror proxies over the welfare of the Afghan people and Pakistan,” the sources added.

Operation Ghazab Lil Haq was launched last month following renewed clashes along the Pak-Afghan border, after Afghan Taliban forces fired on multiple locations, prompting swift military retaliation by Pakistan.

The neighbouring countries have been engaged in escalating hostilities along the frontier since then. The clashes intensified after Afghanistan launched a border offensive in response to Pakistani air strikes targeting terrorist positions.

The latest escalation in tensions between the two countries follows a series of tit-for-tat actions over the past year.

Temporary pause in operation

Last week, Pakistan announced a temporary pause in Operation Ghazab Lil-Haq against the terrorists and the Afghan Taliban regime from March 18 to March 23.

In a post on X, the Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said that the decision was taken in view of the upcoming Islamic festival of Eid-ul-Fitr.

The federal minister said that the decision to announce a temporary pause on ongoing Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq was taken upon the Government of Pakistan’s own initiative, and the request from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkiye.

In view of the upcoming Islamic festival of Eid-ul-Fitr, upon its own initiative as well as on the request from the brotherly Islamic countries of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the State of Qatar and the Republic of Turkiye, the Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan has decided to announce temporary pause amidst ongoing “Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq” against the terrorists and their support infrastructure in Afghanistan,” the statement noted.

The minister further said that the pause will be applicable from midnight March 18/19 to midnight March 23/24.

Pakistan offers this gesture in good faith and in keeping with the Islamic norms. However, in case of any cross-border attack, drone attack, or any terrorist incident inside Pakistan, Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq shall immediately resume with renewed intensity,” the minister maintained.
