MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): There will be an election, not a selection, said President Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Azad Kashmir and former Prime Minister Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi.

He said that attempts to rig polls will be foiled. “We will not allow N-League to hijack the public mandate.”

He said the mission for Imran Khan’s release and success in the upcoming AJK elections will be ensured as the AJK party president launched the workers mobilization program by holding public conventions.

Niazi said that PTI has approached the public instead of sitting in drawing rooms, unlike the Pakistan Peoples’ Party and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz.

He said this at a grand worker convention held at the residence of former minister Chaudhry Maqbool Gujjar to mobilize Kashmiri refugees residing in Pakistan. The atmosphere resonated with loud slogans of “Release Imran Khan.”

Former Prime Minister Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi received a warm welcome upon his arrival at the workers’ convention.

He strongly criticized PML-N’s Rana Sanaullah, stating that those who suffered a crushing defeat in the February 8 elections also want to hijack the Azad Kashmir Assembly elections.

“The mandate-stealing government should come to its senses and refrain from hijacking the Azad Kashmir elections. PML-N and PPP do not have candidates for the elections but are in a race to gather fair-weather friends.”

He said elections are won by the public power, not by fair-weather friends. Both parties know they do not have public support, so they are making strenuous efforts to manage the elections.

PTI warns

“I warn that there will be an election, not a selection. If the transparency of the election is not ensured, there will be chaos. Come out for Pakistan, come out for Imran Khan, come out for your future generations.”

He urged the gathering to respond enthusiastically to the call of ‘Ambassador of Kashmir’ Imran Khan and play their part in this historic struggle. “Only Imran Khan can effectively highlight the Kashmir issue,” Niazi concluded.
