MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): A new wave of monsoon rains has started in both Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Occupied Jammu & Kashmir from today, according to the latest forecast by the Meteorological Department.
As per the weather report released on July 21, these monsoon rains are expected to continue for the next four days, affecting different areas at different times.
On Monday, early morning showers are likely in the plains of Occupied Jammu, while some parts of the Kashmir Valley may receive rain in the afternoon, evening, or at night.
On July 22, rain is expected in most areas on both sides of the region. The plains of Jammu may experience monsoon rains during the first half of the day. Meanwhile, the Kashmir Valley and surrounding mountainous regions are likely to see rain later in the day. However, a few areas might still remain dry.
The weather department predicts that monsoon rains will continue in the hilly and semi-hilly areas on July 23 as well.
By July 24, the intensity of the rainfall will decrease. Only light rain is expected in a few locations, and overall weather conditions are likely to improve.
Looking ahead, the forecast suggests dry weather across most areas of the region after July 25. There may be slight drizzling in some isolated spots, but no heavy or widespread monsoon rains are expected.
Meanwhile, a landslide in Kamser has blocked the Neelum Highway, leaving thousands stranded. Authorities are working to clear the road and restore access.
The public is advised to stay alert for any sudden weather changes and follow official updates for travel and safety guidance during this active monsoon rains period.
