MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Price Control Committee under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Muzaffarabad has announced the new official price list of food items, including chicken prices, which will come into effect on August 18, 2025.
Chicken Prices
According to the notification, the price of live chicken has been fixed at Rs 478 per kg, chicken meat at Rs 500 per kg, desi chicken at Rs 1050 per kg, and golden chicken at Rs 850 per kg. (40-50 grams) Eggs will be available at Rs 285 per dozen, and (51-60 grams) eggs at Rs 365.
Vegetable prices
Vegetable prices have also been released, according to which potatoes quality A 80 and B 60 rupees per kg, tomatoes 80 rupees, onions 80 rupees, cabbage 150 and brinjal 140 rupees, carrots 160 and turnips 130 and 100 rupees, capsicum 110 rupees, tenda desi 150 rupees, spinach 50 rupees, bitter gourd 110 rupees, radish 60 rupees, okra 90 rupees and cabbage 150 rupees per kg have been fixed.
There has also been a difference in the prices of ginger and garlic, ginger China 560 and madar 140, lemon 410, while garlic China 310 and desi 210 rupees per kg have been fixed.
Fruit prices
Similarly, the prices of fruits have been fixed at Rs 260 for apples and Rs 190 for summer fruits, Rs 190 for bananas per dozen, Rs 310 for grapes, Rs 320 for mangoes, Rs 330 for peaches, Rs 250 for pears, Rs 310 for apricots, and Rs 160 for local mangoes per kilo.
The administration has made it clear that strict action will be taken against those charging prices higher than the official price list. The public has been asked to check the official prices at the time of purchase, and if any shopkeeper charges a higher price, immediately inform the Price Control Magistrate.
