ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): In a relief to inflation-hit citizens, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) on Tuesday announced reduction in electricity prices.

According to a notification issued by Nepra, the electricity price for DISCOs consumers has been reduced by Rs 1.79 per unit.

The reduction in electricity rates was made in the monthly fuel cost adjustment for July.

According to the decision, this reduction will apply to all DISCOs and K-Electric consumers, but will not apply to Lifeline, prepaid consumers, and electric vehicle (EV) charging stations.

As per the notification, electricity consumers will get relief on September bills.

Earlier, the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) had demanded a reduction of Rs 1.69 per unit in the July adjustment.

Consumers will get relief of about 24.5 billion rupees by making electricity cheaper through the fuel adjustment.
