ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The nation is celebrating Pakistan Day today (Monday) with a renewed pledge to transform the country into a true Islamic and welfare state in line with the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
Every year, the day is celebrated to commemorate the historic Lahore Resolution passed on 23rd March in 1940 which set the agenda of a separate homeland for Muslims of the Sub-Continent.
The day dawned with 31-gun salute in the federal capital and 21-gun salute in provincial capitals.
Special prayers were offered in mosques after Fajar prayers for progress and prosperity of the country.
State media will broadcast special programmes to highlight the significance of the day and pay tribute to the leaders and workers of Pakistan Movement.
Significance of Pakistan Day
March 23rd marks the 1940 passing of the Lahore Resolution, as well as the adoption of Pakistan’s first constitution in 1956.
National leaders have emphasised national unity, the need for economic stability, and dedication to peace, while paying homage to the armed forces.
The occasion is marked by a renewed pledge to build a strong, democratic, and prosperous Pakistan in accordance with the ideals of the nation’s founders.
