ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has issued important instructions regarding corrections or changes to citizens’ dates of birth.

According to Punjab government regulations, any alteration to the date of birth on a birth certificate can only be made upon the order of the relevant Union Council, Cantonment Board, or Municipal Corporation court.

NADRA will process requests for date of birth changes only when the official court order and the computerized birth registration certificate are submitted. The policy applies specifically to birth certificates, which the Punjab government issues.

Earlier, the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) launched a new Identity Data Monitoring App, which is aimed at providing citizens with increased control over identification information.

With this app, the citizens will now be able to monitor the use of their national ID data, promoting transparency and security.

The app enables users to view a full history of the data verification process, including information regarding the purpose of use by various institutions to access their identity information at a specified time.

It is part of the broader initiative by Nadra to ensure better protection against the abuse of personal data.

The app will also reduce the risk of identity theft and other illegal verifications considerably. It is a useful development in the prevention of data leakage and the observance of data security protocols.

Online NADRA Birth Certificate

Earlier, the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) introduced the online facility for citizens to obtain birth certificates, making the birth registration process much simpler.

According to NADRA, citizens can use the Pak ID mobile app and register the birth of their children at their respective Union Councils (UCs) from home.

In a statement, the NADRA said that this facility is available in all districts of Punjab, while in several districts of Sindh, including Karachi East, Central, Naushahro Feroze, Mirpurkhas, Shaheed Benazirabad, Larkana, Jamshoro, Tando Allahyar, and Tando Muhammad Khan.

As per the announcement, registration is also available in Balochistan’s Quetta district.

According to NADRA, the scope of this facility will soon be extended to the entire country, for which work is underway, and this facility will be available to all citizens soon.
