MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Jammu and Kashmir National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is investigating the alleged corruption of multi-million rupee procurement of vehicles to the Health Department from Azad Motors Mirpur.
Allegations are that Azad Motors sold the vehicle to the Health Department without providing proper invoices, and instead provided invoices for vehicles of a higher standard when delivering lower standard vehicles.
According to a NAB notice, the record of what vehicles were sold is absent from the company website, and there is an absence of tax documents associated with these vehicles.
The NAB is looking into a procurement of 24 vehicles, of which the provided vehicle numbers are not currently known.
The company has been questioned for selling vehicles at a higher than normal market price, regardless of value, when the vehicle may be of lower standard.
The NAB has advised Azad Motors that, as they are no longer providing vehicles from the 2023 model line, they are required to respond in writing within ten (10) days indicating whether or not to respond to the investigation(s bordering on corruption.
This is an investigation to find the facts, and to assign responsibility to those involved if there is proof of wrongdoing in the procurement process.
