MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) is currently experiencing ongoing monsoon rains, bringing both scenic beauty and potential danger to the region. The changing weather, marked by intermittent showers, high humidity, and occasional thunderstorms, has created an unpredictable atmosphere in areas like Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, and Bagh.
According to the Meteorological Department, monsoon rains are expected to continue for the next 5 to 7 days. Weather experts say that strong monsoon winds, high moisture levels, and fluctuating temperatures are the key reasons behind this extended spell. Heavy rainfall with thunder and lightning is especially forecasted in Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, and Bagh.
However, with the monsoon rains also comes risk. The district administration has issued alerts due to the dangers of landslides, overflowing streams, and traffic accidents. Rescue 1122 teams, local bodies, and the State Disaster Management Authority have been put on high alert to handle any emergency situations.
