LEEPA VALLEY (Kashmir English): A disturbing incident unfolded in Leepa Valley, where a patient was forced to book a private car instead of an ambulance despite the patient’s critical condition.
According to the relatives of a patient, they were compelled to take a private car to shift the patient to Muzaffarabad Cardiac Hospital as the administration of the hospital did not provide an ambulance.
Although they were referred by Dr. Parvez at RHC Leepa, relatives waited until 1 pm for an ambulance but it was not available.
The incident turned astonishing when the patient’s family happened to see an ambulance driven by Health Department officials who had attended a workshop at Hattian Bala.
Medical Officer Leepa halted the ambulance and reproached the staff, leaving the family members agitated. The family members demanded justice and an inquiry at high levels from the authorities.
This incident is a major concern regarding the availability and access of emergency services in Leepa Valley and misuse of government facilities.
The victim’s family demands transparency and accountability from hospital authorities and the health department.
