MIRPUR (Kashmir English): Azad Kashmir Police SHO Imran Ahmad, who has been booked in a woman harassment case, has filed a contempt of court plea against three senior police officers in the District Criminal Court of Mirpur, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

Inspector Imran Ahmed has moved to the court against SHO Thothal Police Station Mirpur Sikandar Azam, SSP Mirpur Khawar Shoukat, and DIG Mirpur Region Chaudhry Liaquat.

According to the petition, the complainant has alleged that a baseless FIR was registered against him on February 25, 2025, in which sections 342, 506, 509 APC and ZHA-18 were included.

Imran said that despite obtaining pre-arrest bail from the court, he was arrested, which is a serious violation of court orders.

The petition further stated that Section ZHA-18 was maliciously added to the FIR registered earlier, and when the court granted pre-arrest bail on February 26, 2025, he was arrested with the addition of Section 354 APC despite the next hearing being scheduled for March 4, 2025.

The petitioner has taken the position that this action has clearly violated the court orders, therefore the court should initiate contempt of court proceedings against the concerned police officers.

SHO SHO Imran Ahmed has been arrested on a complaint filed by Farkhunda Rehman, a British-Kashmiri woman, over the harassment charges. The complainant alleged that the accused harassed her.

As per the audio clip secretly recorded by the victim on her mobile phone, the allegedly intoxicated SHO was heard pressuring her to move to the front seat, remove her abaya, befriend him, and visit his home, while repeatedly making other obscene demands.

According to sources, the woman was staying in Mirpur with her parents to seek justice in a property possession case. After she failed to recover her house from all legal avenues, the woman sought help from the British Embassy, after which Commissioner Mirpur advised her to approach the Thothal police station.

However, upon contacting, Thothal SHO called the woman for a meeting and instead of taking her to the police station, he took her to a private place. According to the woman, the SHO closed the door of a room and urged the woman to befriend, remove her hijab, and engage in indecent acts.

The woman informed the Mirpur Commissioner about the situation, after which the police started an investigation into the incident.
