MIRPUR (Kashmir English): The District Criminal Court Mirpur has rejected the bail plea of the main accused SHO Thothal Chaudhry Imran Ahmed in the British-Kashmiri woman harassment case.

During the hearing today, the accused was represented by Advocate Inamullah and Advocate Sheikh Adil. Advocate Nazia Shah, Advocate Muhammad Shahzad Chaudhry, Advocate Muhammad Irfan Chaudhry, and Advocate Mirza Ansar appeared before the court to present Farkhunda Rehman.

SHO Imran Chaudhry also filed the contempt of court petition against three senior police officers —  SHO Thothal Sikandar Azam, SSP Mirpur Khawar Shoukat, and DIG Mirpur Region Chaudhry Liaquat —  in the said court.

While hearing the plea, the court questioned the arrest of the accused despite pre-arrest bail. The district court sought a response from the respondents about why the accused Imran has been arrested at the Palandri police station.

A high-level committee from Poonch reached Mirpur for further investigation and collection of evidence in the case.

According to the petition filed on Wednesday, the complainant has alleged that a baseless FIR was registered against him on February 25, 2025, in which sections 342, 506, 509 APC and ZHA-18 were included. Imran said that despite obtaining pre-arrest bail from the court, he was arrested, which is a serious violation of court orders.

SHO Imran Ahmed case

SHO Imran Ahmed has been arrested on a complaint filed by Farkhunda Rehman, a British-Kashmiri woman, over the harassment charges.

As per the audio clip secretly recorded by the victim on her mobile phone, the allegedly intoxicated SHO was heard pressuring her to move to the front seat, remove her abaya, befriend him, and visit his home, while repeatedly making other obscene demands.

According to sources, the woman was staying in Mirpur with her parents to seek justice in a property possession case. After she failed to recover her house from all legal avenues, the woman sought help from the British Embassy, after which Commissioner Mirpur advised her to approach the Thothal police station.

However, upon contacting, Thothal SHO called the woman for a meeting and instead of taking her to the police station, he took her to a private place. According to the woman, the SHO closed the door of a room and urged the woman to befriend, remove her hijab, and engage in indecent acts.

The woman informed the Mirpur Commissioner about the situation, after which the police started an investigation into the incident.
