RAWALPINDI (Kashmir English): The leadership of Pakistan’s armed forces has extended congratulations to the nation on the occasion of the 86th Pakistan Day, expressing renewed resolve in their special message.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (Chief of Defense Forces); Naval Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf; and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar Sidhu issued their messages to the nation on this important day.
The military leadership stated in their messages that March 23, 1940, was a decisive turning point in the national history when the shared dream of the Muslims of the subcontinent gained clear direction and the foundation for the establishment of an independent state was laid. They declared this day a symbol of the nation’s faith, hope, and perseverance.
According to the ISPR, the leaders emphasised that by the grace of Allah Almighty, Pakistan is progressing on the path of development under democratic values and continues to uphold Islamic principles.
They reiterated the commitment that the country will continuously strive to strengthen its democratic institutions, ensure national security, and promote the welfare of its people.
The statement said that in the current situation, when the country faces challenges such as terrorism and extremism, Pakistan’s armed forces, people, and law enforcement agencies are united in confronting these threats and are determined to protect national security.
The military leadership further said that the Pakistan Armed Forces are always prepared and vigilant, fulfilling their responsibilities to defend the country’s borders, protect its sovereignty, and maintain internal peace against all forms of aggression and terrorism.
According to the ISPR, Pakistan is a responsible member of the international community and will continue to play its role in promoting peace, stability, and mutual cooperation in the world. The nation’s unity, courage, and commitment to progress were also highlighted on this occasion.
Pakistan Day
On the other hand, Pakistan Day is being celebrated across the country with traditional fervor. The day began with a 31-gun salute in the federal capital and 21-gun salutes in the provincial capitals, and the air resonated with “Nara-e-Takbir.”
Special prayers were also offered in mosques after Fajr prayers for the country’s security and progress.
However, this year, due to the regional situation and austerity measures, ceremonies are being held in a simple manner. The central Pakistan Day parade has been canceled, while the flag-hoisting ceremony is also being held with simplicity but dignity.
