CHARSADDA (Kashmir English): In a targeted killing incident, the unidentified assailants brutally shot and killed Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) leader and renowned religious scholar Maulana Hafiz Abdul Salam Arif in Mandani Tehsil of Charsadda, according to the CTD sources.
Police said that unknown motorcyclists opened fire on Maulana Abdul Salam on Takhtbhai Road within the limits of Mandani police station, killing him on the spot.
His body was shifted to Civil Hospital Jamalabad for post-mortem examination, police said, adding that an investigation has been launched into the incident to trace and arrest the culprits.
The deceased was the head of Madrassa Abu Bakar Siddique in Angar Bari Band, Tehsil Tangi in Charsadda, and a member of JUI’s Provincial Shura.
