RAWALAKOT (Kashmir English): Deputy Commissioner Poonch and officials in Rawalakot marked March 23rd with a flag-hoisting ceremony, emphasizing national stability and Kashmir’s struggle for freedom.
The 23rd of March 1940 stands vital for Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). The Deputy Commissioner of Poonch Sardar Umar Farooq, today, identified this day as the moment the Pakistan Resolution created possibilities for Muslim independence in the subcontinent.
He addressed his audience at the Divisional Headquarters in Rawalakot during the flag-hoisting ceremony which was held with complete zeal and zest. He also reminded how Kashmiris supported the original Lahore resolution during its presentation, voicing their support for justice and freedom.
According to him, March 23 serves as an occasion to reaffirm Pakistan’s stability while sustaining Kashmir’s independence movement. The Divisional Head emphasized that everyone should keep working to fulfil the dreams of Allama Muhammad Iqbal and Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
The ceremony included Deputy Director of Information for Poonch Division, Saadullah Khan, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Usman Mumtaz Butt, and Assistant Commissioner, Sardar Mushtaq Ahmed Khan as key officials. Together with the Assistant Director of Civil Defence, DSP City Rawalakot Sardar Tariq, DSP Traffic Sardar Zafar, Tehsildar Rawalakot Sardar Zaheer Khan, SHO City Rawalakot Sardar Amjad, and Naib Tehsildar Rawalakot along with other officers constituted the attendance.
The gathering participants received an order from Deputy Commissioner Sardar Umar Farooq to actively support national development. According to Deputy Commissioner Sardar Umar Farooq, Pakistan’s development and security require the active involvement of its citizens in goodness-building activities for national prosperity.
Farroq spoke of Pakistan’s forefathers with great tribute for their independence and integrity struggles. The unfinished mission which was started by others remains our responsibility and we will fight until we fulfil it, he declared.
The event culminated as Mufti Zia-ur-Rehman led a special prayer for the sake of the safety of Pakistan while seeking Indian Illegally Occupied Kashmir (IIOJK) independence from Indian rule.
