LEEPA (Kashmir English): A man, who was fatally injured in a leopard attack on the Kali Mandal Road in Leepa Valley last night, succumbed to injuries today (Wednesday).

Zaheer Ahmed, a resident of the village Khewara, was traveling alone last night when he was attacked by a leopard, inflicting deep and severe wounds.

The injured man was rescued by the Pakistan Army and Rescue 1122 teams and was shifted to LTFTC Leepa for initial treatment.

Later, he was referred to CMH Muzaffarabad due to the critical nature of his injuries. Despite efforts, Zaheer Ahmed succumbed to his wounds upon reaching Muzaffarabad.

Funeral prayers for the deceased will be offered at 8 PM today in his native village, Khewara.

The deadly attack has created widespread fear throughout Leepa. Residents said that the same leopard has previously killed livestock and attacked humans on several occasions.

Locals say that despite repeated appeals to the authorities, no effective measures have been taken so far to control the predator. The incident has intensified fears that an even more tragic event may occur if urgent action is not taken.
