KUALA LUMPUR (Kashmir English): A 33-year-old Malaysian man has entered the Guinness World Records as he has more teeth than an average person.

During a gathering, he discovered that his teeth numbered far beyond the usual count and secured a world record.

A typical adult would have around 32 teeth, but a Malaysian man has 42. The Guinness World Records confirmed that Malaysian citizen Prathab Muniandy has 42 teeth, which is 10 more than the usual number.

Prathab said he first realised something unusual in 2021 during a gathering, when he felt he might have more teeth than usual.

After counting them, he found 38 teeth. An X-ray later showed that four more were yet to emerge.

By 2023, the total in his mouth had reached 42 with most of the teeth emerging straight and causing no complications.

Prathab said people often react with surprise and struggle to believe that he has 42 teeth instead of the usual 32.

Doctors who examined him told him that two more teeth are still expected to appear.

Guinness World Record holders

Prathab has officially received the Guinness title for the ‘most teeth in the mouth of a male’.

Among women, the record belongs to India’s Kalpana Balan, who has 38 teeth.

Prathab said it feels special to know that he holds the world record for having the most teeth.
