ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai has opened applications for the Malala Yousafzai Scholarship, a fully funded program created in collaboration with the Oxford Pakistan Programme.
The scholarship provides full financial support to Pakistani women pursuing a Master’s or higher degree at the University of Oxford. “I want every girl in Pakistan to be able to pursue her dream, complete her education, choose her own future, and help the country progress,” Malala said while sharing the news on social media.
Malala, who herself completed her degree at Oxford, said the scholarship reflects her commitment to supporting girls who struggle for their right to education. She recalled being denied schooling at age 11 when schools were banned in her area, adding that she never wanted her story to be the only one of its kind.
The program targets gifted Pakistani women who want to study at Oxford so they can use their education to create positive changes in Pakistan. The Oxford Pakistan Programme website now accepts applications from all eligible candidates who wish to join the program.
Malala showed how Pakistani girls possess the ability to establish professional success while making societal contributions and directing development projects.
The scholarship will cover tuition fees, living expenses, and other educational costs, which will enable students to dedicate their time entirely to academic work.
She expressed hope that many young women will seize this opportunity, saying she looks forward to welcoming the next cohort of scholars to Oxford.
