Leopard kills 8-year-old girl in Jhelum Valley’s village

JHELUM VALLEY (Kashmir English): A leopard mauled and killed an 8-year-old girl on Friday afternoon in Nali Dabran village of Azad Kashmir’s Jhelum Valley district.

As per details, the second-grade student, Javeria, was playing in the open verandah of her house in a village located around 15 kilometers from Chinari, a main town in Jhelum Valley, when the wild animal suddenly attacked her.

The leopard swiftly carried the child into the nearby fields, sparking panic among the residents.

Eyewitnesses reported that the villagers immediately began a search, and after three hours, the girl’s lifeless body was discovered in a field.

According to the family, the leopard had sucked her blood before abandoning the body.

The funeral prayers for the girl will be offered in her village tomorrow.

Locals have demanded immediate action from the wildlife department to control the increasing presence of dangerous wild animals near residential areas.

Authorities have yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
