Moreover, the government members of the Senate, Anusha Rehman and Khalil Tahir Sindhu, have presented a constitutional amendment in the Senate under which the Prime Minister will be included along with the President in Article 248 of the Constitution.

After the proposed amendment is passed, criminal cases will not be able to be initiated against the Prime Minister during his term.

This amendment has been presented to expand the scope of immunity enjoyed by the President in the current constitutional framework to the Prime Minister.

According to constitutional experts, after the change in Article 248, the Prime Minister will also be protected from legal proceedings during his term of office.

Senator Anusha Rehman said that this step is necessary to better discharge the constitutional and legal responsibilities of the Prime Minister, while Senator Khalil Tahir Sindhu said that the proposed amendment has been introduced to prevent obstruction in the performance and decision-making of the government.
