LEEPA (Kashmir English): Due to the lack of basic facilities for education, female students are forced to study in a boys’ school building in Leepa Valley.
As per details, the female students of the Girls Higher Secondary School have started studying in the Boys Primary School building of Bana Mola, the largest union council in Tehsil Leepa of Hattian Bala district.
According to a report by Kashmir Digital, the Girls Higher Secondary School building consists of only three rooms, one room is for office use, while around 400 female students are studying in two rooms.
The girls have been studying in the boys’ school building for three years now, but even in this school, half of the female students do not have a roof to take classes as they are forced to sit in open space. During the rain, more than half of the female students go home, due to which their schooling process is severely affected.
Talking to Kashmir Digital, the students said that at present, our only educational institution is Girls Degree College, Leepa, which is eight kilometers away. “The road leading to the college is also in poor condition and especially during rainy days when landslides happen, it becomes extremely difficult or even impossible to reach the college,” a student said.
The students questioned the lack of education facilities including the infrastructure and expert teachers in different subjects. The students further said that higher secondary classes are being held but there is not a single subject specialist.
‘Even in the modern era, we are deprived of teachers and buildings. We are getting an education in boys’ schools, but in reality, we are deprived of all kinds of education,” the students added.
“There is no computer lab or teachers. The conditions we face in the rain are indescribable.”
The students appealed to the authorities to provide us with a building and teachers so that we could continue our studies.
