DUBAI (Kashmir English): Travelers flying from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have been reminded to check what they can and can’t carry in their cabin baggage, as airport authorities in Dubai and Sharjah issue update on banned and restricted items.

The advisory follows Emirates’ recent ban on using power bank onboard from October.

Dubai Airport has issued a strict list of prohibited items that cannot be hand carried. These include Sharp work tools such as hammers, nails, and screwdrivers, scissors with blades longer than 6cm, swords, handcuffs, firearms, and ammunition.

The other banned items include laser guns, walkie-talkies, and martial arts weapons. Lighters (only one lighter allowed on person).

Furthermore, bats, drills, ropes, packing tapes, and electrical cables (except for personal travel use) are also included in the list of restricted items.

Power banks: Must not exceed 100Wh; 100–160Wh may be allowed depending on airline, but never above 160Wh. Use onboard is prohibited.

Bludgeons, baseball bats, flammable gases and liquids have been banned in hand carry baggage.

Hazardous chemicals, corrosives, infectious substances; firearms, explosives, fireworks, dangerous goods, knives with blades over 6cm, hunting knives, and martial arts devices are also among the banned items.

Radioactive materials, toxic gases, and disabling devices like tear gas are also placed among the banned items.

Suspicious or imitation weapons, straight razors, elongated scissors are also included in the banned items.
