Kashmir Solidarity Day being observed nationwide today

MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The nation is observing Kashmir Solidarity Day today to express unwavering support for the Kashmiri people’s just struggle for their inalienable right to self-determination, as enshrined in United Nations resolutions.

The day has been declared a public holiday across the country to mark the occasion, and solidarity walks are being organised throughout Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

In the federal capital Islamabad, a rally will take place on Constitution Avenue as an expression of support to Kashmiri brethren.

At 10:00am, sirens were sounded, and a one-minute silence was observed nationwide to honour the martyrs of Kashmir.

Posters and billboards have been installed at key locations, including major avenues, airports, and railway stations, to highlight the suffering of the Kashmiri people and expose Indian atrocities in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

In Muzaffarabad, the AJK Legislative Assembly will hold a special session to express solidarity with the oppressed people of IIOJK.

Human chains were formed at Mangla, Kohala, Bararkot, Azad Pattan, and Holar, symbolically linking Pakistan with Azad Kashmir. The human chains by the Pakistani brethren with the people of Kashmir, were made at all seven bridges of Azad Kashmir, linking Pakistan to Kashmir including Kohala, Holar, Bararkot, Dhalkot, Azad Pattan, Dhan Galli and Mangla bridge over various Kashmir rivers falling in Pakistan. This human solidarity chain was made at 10:00am on the Kashmir Solidarity Day.

In Mirpur, a function marking Kashmir Solidarity Day will take place at Mangla Bridge. Similar events are scheduled in Kotli and Bhimber districts.

Pakistan shows steadfast support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination under UN resolutions is reaffirmed on Kashmir Solidarity Day, which is celebrated on February 5th each year. To draw attention to Indian atrocities in IIOJK, the day is commemorated with demonstrations, human chains, and other activities throughout Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. While billboards and posters raise awareness of the plight of Kashmiri martyrs, a one-minute silence is observed in their honour. Nationwide marches and a special session of the AJK Legislative Assembly are held. The day represents Pakistan’s dedication to supporting Kashmiris in their rightful fight for independence.
