KARACHI (Kashmir English): A man in Karachi received an e-challan for not wearing helmet involving his bike stolen four years back and still unrecovered, local media reported.

The person claimed his vehicle was stolen from the Tipu Sultan police premises. Ironically, he received an e-ticket worth Rs5,000 on October 27 for not wearing a helmet, despite having filed a theft complaint.

Earlier, the efficiency of the newly launched e-challan system by the Sindh traffic police came under scrutiny after a citizen reported major errors in the system.

The affected citizen told local media that he received an e-challan despite having never committed any traffic violation.

The number plate shown in the photo was also different from the one mentioned in the text on the same challan receipt, he said, calling it a glaring error.

It is to mention here that paper challan system has been totally replaced by introducing the e-ticketing system.

The Traffic police issued more than 17,000 e-challans since the system became active on October 28.
