ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Justice Sardar Liaquat Hussain on Friday sworn in as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The oath-taking ceremony was held at the President’s Office, Kashmir House in Islamabad, administered by President Azad Kashmir Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry.
As per details, Prime Minister Azad Kashmir Chaudhry Anwarul Haq attended the ceremony. Supreme Court judges Justice Syed Shahid Bihar, Justice Sardar Muhammad Ijaz Khan, and Justice Chaudhry Khalid Rashid were among the attendees.
Law Minister Mian Abdul Waheed, Minister for Power Development Chaudhry Muhammad Rashid, Minister for Physical Planning and Housing Chaudhry Yasir Sultan, and Finance Minister Abdul Majid Khan were also present.
Several District and Sessions Judges, District Qazis, and representatives from the Bar Council and Bar Associations attended the ceremony.
Earlier on June 11, the Azad Kashmir Law Department issued the notification, appointing Justice Sardar Liaquat Hussain as the permanent Chief Justice of the AJK High Court.
Justice Liaquat was serving as the Acting Chief Justice of the High Court after the retirement of Chief Justice Sadaqat Hussain since June 9, 2025.
