SRINAGAR (Kashmir English): Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement (JKSM), a prominent constituent of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, has once again reaffirmed its commitment to take the ongoing Kashmir freedom movement to its logical and rightful conclusion.
In a press statement issued on Tuesday, the party spokesperson, Dr. Irfan Khan, stated that no power on earth can suppress this just and historic movement for liberation, which, he said, has been nourished by the sacred blood of hundreds of thousands of martyrs.
“Custodians of Kashmiri martyrs legacy”
“We are the custodians of their [martyrs] legacy and will continue their mission with full resolve and determination. No amount of Indian repression can deter us from our just political struggle,” Khan resolved.
Dr. Khan said that India has employed every tactic of oppression and brutality in an attempt to crush the legitimate aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
However, he said, the resilience and spirit of resistance among the people have rendered these oppressive tactics ineffective.
He said over 500,000 Kashmiris have been martyred so far, and millions displaced as a result of Indian state aggression adding thousands remain imprisoned in Indian detention centres under draconian laws.
He said the region’s most revered pro-freedom leadership is languishing in Indian jails.
Dr Khan further said that the Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement carries forward the mission of the martyrs.
“Indian forces have not spared our women, children, or elderly even. Thousands are missing, and many lie buried in unmarked graves. There is hardly a Kashmiri family that has not suffered under Indian occupation,” Dr. Khan lamented.
He strongly condemned the use of black laws to target innocent civilians in occupied Kashmir, saying that after the abrogation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status, the scale of repression has intensified.
“People are being deprived of their ancestral properties, homes of pro-freedom supporters are being seized, and innocent civilians are being arrested on baseless accusations. Under the cover of these black laws, Kashmiris are being turned into victims of systematic oppression,” he said.
Khan concluded by stating that despite all odds, the JKSM will continue its peaceful and democratic struggle without fear.
“We will never betray the blood of our martyrs. Our commitment to a peaceful, just, and lasting resolution of the Kashmir issue remains unwavering,” he affirmed.
