MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) has officially withdrawn its strike call in the Muzaffarabad Division after successful negotiations with the local administration. The decision came late Friday night following detailed talks between the committee and government officials.

Shaukat Nawaz Mir, a member of JAAC from Muzaffarabad Division, shared a video statement late at night, stating that the government was presented with a charter of demands based on public concerns. After detailed talks, consensus was reached on several key and pending issues. He noted that the government had made positive progress on most of the demands that had prompted the call for protest and strike.

He stated that most of the demands that triggered the strike call saw positive progress from the government’s side. In light of that, and out of respect for the holy month of Muharram, JAAC decided to end the protest in the public’s best interest.

Mir added that the public committee had entrusted him with the authority to decide on the strike, and using that mandate, he formally announced the withdrawal of today’s strike. He also appealed to citizens to resume their routine activities and continue with their daily businesses as usual.

The talks, according to Shaukat Nawaz Mir, were conducted in a respectful and constructive manner. He praised the government and district administration for taking their concerns seriously and showing a willingness to resolve long-standing issues.

In conclusion, Shaukat Nawaz Mir thanked JAAC and the general public, saying their unity and trust were the real strength behind this movement.

The Joint Awami Action Committee has vowed to keep pushing for the remaining demands through dialogue and peaceful means.
