MUZAFARRABAD (Kashmir English): In a recent development, the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) issued an ultimatum to the Azad Kashmir government to fulfill all their demands by June 8, 2025.

The committee has warned that if the demands are not met by the due date, the next course of action will be announced in the Core Committee meeting in Mirpur on June 8.

While addressing the gathering and reading the declaration, Core Committee member Shaukat Nawaz Mir said that for two years, we have been accused of being a raw-funded movement, whereas when we took donations, we transparently explained on social media where the funds came from.

He said that we are grateful to the overseas Muzaffarabadi community who helped us, due to which we were able to organize this event.

The declaration states that the war started over the Kashmir issue, and the war will not end until its solution is found according to the will of the Kashmiris.

Shaukat Nawaz Mir said that this movement started two years ago with the prayer of a poor and needy person, who used to pay the electricity bill but did not have the money to pay the children’s fees, and if he did, he would not have the money to pay the bills.

Addressing the gathering, Shaukat Nawaz Mir reiterated the resolve that the struggle will continue until the cause for which the martyrs had sacrificed is fulfilled.

According to the declaration, peace cannot be established between Pakistan and India until the Kashmir issue is resolved per the wishes and aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

The committee demanded that the right of self-determination recognized by Pakistan and India be granted for a peaceful and permanent solution to the Kashmir issue.

It was further said that if any solution or war is imposed on the people of Jammu and Kashmir without their consent, we reserve the right to break the ill-fated bloody streak.

The declaration reiterated the global concern that the Indo-Pak war could escalate into a nuclear war, and if that happens, two billion people in South Asia could suffer mass death.

The committee appealed to the people of the regional countries of Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Iran, and Afghanistan to raise their voices in favor of the right of self-determination of the Kashmiri people to avoid a possible war so that the issue can be resolved under the UN Charter.

The declaration condemned the arrest of the leaders of the Gilgit-Baltistan Action Committee and demanded their release. The Azad Kashmir government was warned that if the recognized demands were not implemented by June 8, the Joint Action Committee would be forced to give another public call.

The committee rejected the recent increase in the privileges of the elite as a joke on the nation and demanded that the ruling class also end its old privileges. The declaration also included a demand for the release of all freedom fighters, including Yasin Malik, who are imprisoned for their freedom struggle in Indian-occupied Kashmir.

It was further stated that the Joint Action Committee strongly condemns enforced disappearances and demands that the missing persons be handed over to the Azad Kashmir Police so that if there is any case against them, it can be decided per state law.
