ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Islamabad district administration on Monday announced the closure of trails of Islamabad’s Margalla Hills in the wake of heavy rainfall forecasted for the coming days.
The notification shared by Deputy Commissioner Islamabad stated that “Trail 2, Trail 3, Trail 4, Trail 5, and Trail behind Saidpur Village shall remain closed from 1st September, 2025 till further orders for the general public in the Federal Capital.”
It added that the trails have been closed in the wake of heavy rainfall, and keeping in view the safety of citizens, including hikers/visitors to the Margalla Hills.
Earlier on Monday, the torrential rain lashed parts of Islamabad, submerging low-lying areas and paralysing daily life.

According to PMD, Islamabad’s Sector H-8 recorded the highest rainfall at 95mm, while 76 mm was recorded at Golra, 45 mm in Saidpur, and 52 mm in Bokra. While in Rawalpindi, Pirwadhai received 45 mm of rain, Shamsabad received 28 mm, and Gawal Mandi received 5 mm of rain.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has already warned of heavy rainfall between September 1 and 3 in Islamabad and several districts of Punjab, highlighting the risks of flash floods, urban flooding, and landslides in vulnerable areas.
