ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has issued a traffic plan for February 3, 2026, which alerts drivers about evening road closures that will affect major thoroughfares in the federal capital and recommends drivers use other routes to prevent traffic backups.

According to an ITP spokesperson, the traffic diversions will take place from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm at main intersections on Islamabad Expressway, Murree Road, and Club Road.

Motorists will encounter elevated traffic levels on the Islamabad Expressway and Faisal Avenue during this time period.

Alternative Routes for Commuters

To reduce waiting time, ITP has selected the following routes:

  • Rawalpindi to Islamabad: Rawal Road, Ninth Avenue, Fakir Epi Road, Srinagar Highway
  • Islamabad to Rawalpindi: Zero Point, Srinagar Highway, Ninth Avenue, Murree 
  • Bari Imam (Barakahu) to Islamabad: Korang Road, Bani Gala Road, Park Road, Lehtrar Road, Serena Hotel /
  • Barakahu to Rawalpindi: Park Road, Khanna Road Traffic Assistance and Helplines ITP confirmed that traffic wardens will be stationed along affected routes to facilitate smooth flow and guide motorists.

Citizens can contact the Traffic Helpline 1915 or Emergency Helpline 15 for real-time updates and assistance. Police officers requested residents to prepare their travel plans before departure, follow traffic regulations, and work together with law enforcement to prevent traffic delays during peak travel times.
