Islamabad to host first-ever overseas Pakistanis convention today

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The government, in collaboration with the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF), is going to host the first-ever Overseas Pakistanis Convention here today.

The three-day event which will continue in Islamabad from April 13 to 15 aims to address concerns of the community and gather policy input.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis, the objective of the convention is to warmly welcome overseas Pakistanis back home, listen to their concerns, and incorporate their valuable suggestions into improved policymaking.

Overseas Pakistanis accorded status of state guests

The government has decided to accord the status of state guests to all overseas Pakistanis attending the convention.

Special arrangements, including welcome banners and reception protocols, have been made at airports for their reception.

Under special instructions from the Prime Minister, these arrangements reflect the government’s commitment to making overseas Pakistanis feel that Pakistan is truly their home.

The convention will bring together hundreds of overseas Pakistanis. The aim of the event is to provide a shared platform where overseas Pakistanis, government officials, and national institutions can engage under one roof.

To facilitate this, various government departments have set up help desks at the venue to provide information, guidance, and services to them.

This initiative reflects the seriousness of the government of Pakistan in addressing the concerns of overseas Pakistanis and offering timely solutions, according to government officials.

The event will also invite the overseas community to actively contribute to Pakistan’s development and explore improvements in existing services and policies for expatriates.

The first annual Overseas Pakistanis Convention is aimed at recognizing the contributions of overseas Pakistanis to the national economy.

In his video message, Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Chaudhry Salik Hussain has expressed the government’s determination to work for the welfare of overseas Pakistanis and address their problems.
