ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Capital Development Authority (CDA) seems all set for a massive Spring Tree Plantation Drive 2025, aimed at enhancing the green cover of the capital city.
The initiative was discussed at a high-level meeting chaired by Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa at the CDA headquarters.
The meeting was attended by senior CDA officials including Member Environment, DG Environment, and others, alongside representatives from the corporate sector, including Garana, Imarat Group of Companies, Nestle, Centaurus Mall and Agency 21.

During the briefing, Chairman Randhawa was informed that the Spring Plantation Drive 2025 will officially commence on February 19 at Islamabad Model College for Boys, sector F-8 of the federal capital.
The campaign will focus on large-scale tree plantation in key areas in both urban and rural regions of Islamabad such as Shakarparian, F-9 Park and along nullahs.
In a unique approach, the officials will utilize drones and helicopters to drop seed balls in the Margalla Hills National Park, ensuring plantation in hard-to-reach areas.
Chairman CDA emphasized the importance of involving civil society, private organizations, and the corporate sector in the drive.
He directed the authorities concerned that specific areas be allocated to brands and companies for tree plantation, urging them to contribute to environmental betterment.
To ensure participation at a large scale, the Chairman also called for the inclusion of students from educational institutions and the general public in the campaign.
Plant stalls
He also suggested to set up stalls in major parks and commercial areas across the capital city so as to distribute plants and raise awareness about the initiative.
In a move to run the campaign on modern lines, the Chairman directed the introduction of a digitized monitoring system to track the growth and survival of the planted trees.
According to the officials, an online plant tracking system will be established to ensure transparency and accountability.
Furthermore, the CDA website will feature a list of indigenous plants suitable for the local climate, with a focus on fruit-bearing and flowering trees.
