ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Islamabad Traffic Police issued a special traffic advisory on Sunday, informing commuters that heavy traffic was expected on several major routes on December 8 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. and on December 9 from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m.
The department advised motorists to plan, use alternative routes, and avoid unnecessary travel during these peak hours. ITP said that Faisal Avenue, Islamabad Expressway, and Srinagar Highway are expected to be highly congested.
The police also closed the Express Chowk and Marriott Gate for entry to the Red Zone, diverting traffic to Serena Road, NADRA Road, or Margalla Road.
The advisory outlined alternate routes for various directions:
Rawalpindi to Islamabad commuters can use Rawal Road, 9th Avenue, Faqueer Aipee Road, or Srinagar Highway.
Islamabad to Rawalpindi travelers may use Zero Point or Srinagar Highway towards 9th Avenue.
Those coming from Murree or Bhara Kahu may turn to Korang Road, Bani Gala route, Park Road, or Lehtrar Road. ITP declared that the police personnel will continue to be deployed at every major point for the purpose of controlling traffic and facilitating drivers.
The police advised citizens to stay updated through ITP Radio 92.4 FM and updates on Islamabad Police’s official social media handles.
