ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has announced that flights will remain suspended at Islamabad International Airport on multiple days ahead of Independence Day.
The authority has issued a notification stating that both incoming and outgoing flights will be halted at specific times on select days to accommodate Independence Day parade rehearsals.
A Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) issued on Saturday stated that arrivals and departures will be suspended on August 11, 12, and 13 from 8 pm to 10 pm.
The NOTAM also covers additional suspension days from August 6 to 9 and August 11 to 14 for multiple hours. In these eight days, an additional daily closure will be observed between 11 am and 1 pm.
Airlines have been directed not to schedule any flights from Islamabad airport during these hours.
Furthermore, the authority has told passengers to double-check their bookings and brace for last-minute changes, as airlines scramble to reshuffle schedules.
Officials said the move is part of intense security and logistical preparations for the grand Independence Day parade in the federal capital, an event set to be marked with a full ceremonial display.
