MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Pakistan has attained an unprecedented diplomatic standing, emerging as a credible and trusted mediator in efforts to de-escalate tensions caused by the US-Israel war on Iran, said Masood Khan, former ambassador of Pakistan to the US, China, and the United Nations.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Khan highlighted Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi’s statement expressing confidence in Pakistan’s mediation efforts, reflecting deep-rooted historical, cultural, and strategic ties between the two nations, as well as growing global trust in Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach.
He noted Pakistan’s swift diplomatic engagement with key regional and global capitals, positioning it at the forefront of mediation and establishing a new “diplomatic corridor”.
US and Iran holding rigid positions
Khan cautioned that challenges persist given the US and Iran holding rigid positions, and appreciated Pakistan’s role in finding a viable middle ground for negotiations.
