MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Deputy Commissioner of Muzaffarabad wrote a letter to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) as residents continued to present complaints about Internet service in Muzaffarabad. The official correspondence demands that the agency submit a detailed account about both the present status and the service quality of 4G network access in that region.

On March 21st 2025, the document notes previous correspondence from the Muzaffarabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Division Commissioner about inadequate digital connectivity in essential geographical regions. When submitting his request to the government, the President of the Central Traders Association of Muzaffarabad described how critical internet services fail constantly in Sector 2G of the city.

The Deputy Commissioner demonstrated through his correspondence that unreliable internet connections caused problems within daily routines and business management, and public service delivery. As the capital of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK,) Muzaffarabad faces a severe problem with inconsistent and poor interneservicees standards. Stakeholders such as students and business owners, together with professionals from the areas, expressed serious worries because they depend on dependable digital connectivity for education and communication and professional tasks.

The insufficient 4G coverage creates problems for essential online services like virtual learning platforms along with telemedicine facilities and banking operation, and online government portals. The area’s digital inclusion progress has suffered due to multiple reports about interruption, poor speeds and complete signal loss by residents.

The Muzaffarabad Division requires assessment of its current internet services especially 4G coverage therefore the DC requires the PTA to produce an official report documenting the results of their technical evaluation. The forthcoming report should establish information regarding existing service deficiencies so the necessary improvements can be implemented for digital infrastructure access for residents.

Local authorities view this move as a proactive step which aims to make service providers responsible for digital accessibility and demands better services in areas where development and connectivity combine.
