DUBAI (Kashmir English): India emerged victorious in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final, defeating New Zealand by four wickets in a thrilling contest at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

The New Zealand batting team scored 251 runs by losing seven wickets during their first innings batting period of 50 overs after securing the toss. At the beginning of their innings, Kiwi openers agreed on a decent scoring start yet the team failed to convert it into a more formidable target.

During New Zealand’s batting innings India’s bowling group limited the opposition through the partnerships Varun Chakravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav took two wickets and Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja took one wicket respectively. The New Zealand batting group struggled to establish dominant partnerships which resulted in an unsatisfying total throughout their inning.

 

India’s Chase in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final


India brought off their chase of 252 runs in the 49th over by losing their wickets six times.
During their 105-run partnership Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill showed responsible batting by standing against the Kiwi bowling attack.

Shubman Gill became the opening casualty of the chase after hitting 31 runs when Mitchell Santner dismissed him. Soon after, Virat Kohli was dismissed, putting India under slight pressure.

Captain Rohit Sharma played a crucial knock of 76 runs but was dismissed at a total of 122 runs, leaving the middle order with a task to complete. Shreyas Iyer scored 48 runs before getting caught up and Axar Patel followed him out while New Zealand still needed many runs to win.

The Indian batting team played a steady game without letting any major collapse hinder their progress. The team managed to score their target with six wickets remaining as they continued their run to victory in the ninth over.

The Indian bowling unit succeeded in containing New Zealand’s offensive to reach a score which Indian batsmen found manageable. The bowling attack found support from Varun Chakravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav who took double-wicket hauls as Shami and Jadeja made important strikes to keep New Zealand under control.

In their victory India claimed the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 thus demonstrating excellence throughout their batting and bowling performances. Through this win India continues its path to dominance in international cricket by adding another significant point to its global achievements.
