ISLAMABAD: India could not erase the spirit of the people of occupied Kashmir for their right to self-determination, Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs Engineer Amir Muqam said.
Addressing the Kashmir Conference in Islamabad, the minister said that many have been martyred, and women have become widows in Indian Illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), while thousands of Kashmiris are still imprisoned in Indian jails.
The conference, held at Kashmir House, discussed India’s suppression of the Kashmiri freedom struggle and unanimously adopted the resolution condemning occupation and reaffirming support for Kashmiris’ self-determination.
“As long as a single Pakistani is alive, the Kashmir issue will remain alive,” Muqam said, adding that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif spoke boldly at the United Nations on the Kashmir issue.
Amir Muqam also expressed support for the appointment of a plebiscite advisor, adding that he will discuss the matter with the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister.
Furthermore, the federal minister said that India could not erase the spirit of the people of occupied Kashmir for their right to self-determination; even today, Kashmiris are struggling more vigorously than before.
Moreover, he reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for the people of occupied Kashmir and said that they would raise their voices for the Kashmir issue until it was resolved.
