HAVELI (Kashmir English): The veterinary hospital destroyed in the earthquake could not be rebuilt even after 16 years in Haveli Kahuta sparking outrage among local public, who have to travel far away for the their animals’ treatment.

The project, initiated in 2006 after a devastating earthquake, was meant to provide essential healthcare benefits to the community, but the work was stopped in 2009.

Despite significant investment of crore of rupees, the project remains unfinished, with only 40% of the work completed.

According to a report by Kashmir Digital, the project was started under the federal government-run agency ERA, but it has not yet been completed, leaving behind a skeletal frame with only pillars erected.

The tender was awarded to a local contractor, but progress stalled, and the project was never completed. Officers and watchmen rooms were to be built in the project, but it is still incomplete.

Due to the non-completion of the project, the staff of the veterinary hospital is also facing serious difficulties, along with the local people who raise cattle, they are also facing serious difficulties in treating their cattle.

Dr. Manzoor Ahmed, Head of the Veterinary Department, Haveli District, said that work on this project has been stopped after 2009, due to which services are not being provided to the people.

He demanded the government and other concerned authorities to take steps towards the completion of the project.
