PARIS (Kashmir English): President of International Kashmir Peace Forum (IKPF) France, Zahid Iqbal Hashmi, has strongly condemned the allocation of over 2,000 kanals of land in occupied Jammu and Kashmir to non-state residents under the garb of investment.
In a statement, Hashmi revealed that among those granted land is former Sri Lankan cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan, who has been allotted 206 kanals.
“The land is being given to Indian investors, while at the same time, Indian occupying forces continue to unleash brutality on unarmed Kashmiris,” he stated.
Allotting Kashmiri land to non-Kashmiris
He accused Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi of systematically allotting Kashmiri land to non-Kashmiris in an attempt to alter the region’s demography.
The international community must take notice of the ongoing human rights violations in occupied Jammu and Kashmir,” he urged.
Zahid Iqbal Hashmi also pointed out that the Indian army has launched a search operation in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district, further intensifying military oppression.
He asserted that the Kashmiri people will never surrender to India’s military aggression and will continue their struggle until they achieve their inalienable right to self-determination.
He further condemned the BJP-led Indian government’s decision to enforce the singing of India’s national anthem in all schools across occupied Kashmir.
“This is an attempt to erase Kashmiri Muslims’ religious and cultural identity and impose Hindutva ideology on the Muslim-majority region,” he warned.
Hashmi reaffirmed that India will never succeed in suppressing the rightful struggle of the Kashmiri people through use of military force.
