KOTLI, Azad Kashmir (Kashmir English): A horrifying incident in village Jabr, Tehsil Charhoi of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) , has left the entire region in shock as a local man, Jahangir, allegedly tortured his wife, Sania Kanwal, to death.
Daughter of the late Muhammad Younas, the woman was subjected to violence, which led to her death. According to details, on Sunday morning around 9:00am, the victim’s brother, Umair Younas, received a phone call that his sister had died.
When the family rushed from Rawalpindi to Charhoi, they discovered that Sania’s death was not natural but the result of domestic violence.
Family members revealed that Jahangir routinely subjected his wife to violence, which ultimately led her to death.
They further alleged that attempts were made to obstruct the transfer of the body to Rawalpindi, but with the help of locals, the family managed to bring the body for a post-mortem examination. Medical reports confirmed visible signs of torture and injuries, verifying that it was indeed a murder.
Matter falls under AJK jurisdiction
Police were informed, but officials stated that since the matter falls under Azad Kashmir’s jurisdiction, medical and investigative procedures would be carried out by local law enforcement. Meanwhile, the victim’s family has demanded immediate arrest of the accused and sought exemplary punishment.
The victim’s brother, Umair Younas, said that their sister was an orphan, and Jahangir turned his cruelty on her, ultimately snatching away her life. He said the killer must be arrested without delay, and this heinous crime must not go unpunished.
The incident has created an atmosphere of fear and grief in the area, with locals calling on the government and higher authorities to ensure transparent investigations and swift justice.
